Osprey Nest Preserve

A pair of Ospreys, affectionately dubbed Oscar and Ophelia by Joseph Dey who used to oversee their progress, have nested on the pole erected for them in 1984 on a small preserve off Factory Pond Road. The last nesting of Ospreys previous to that was 1964, and so it is with delight we have viewed the reintroduction of a once devastated species and the subsequent rearing of 33 young birds in the intervening years. Not open to public.
